Eight Weeks

Nothing super exciting to report. Still feeling like a champ. My energy levels are good, I’m not dragging during the day, and my PMA (good ol’ positive mental attitude) is pretty good.

According to a few pregnancy websites and books we’ve been reading it sounds like morning sickness is most common in the eighth week. Whoo-hoo, so far so good! I haven’t felt a thing (day or night).

Your baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

One exciting tidbit I learned/discovered this week (totally not pregnancy related, but could come in handy) During the average work day (including pre-pregnancy), I drink at least 8.34 lbs of water a day! I’ve always been a good water drinker, especially at work. Rarely does the Nalgene bottle sit empty, and I average at least four 32oz bottles a day. Four bottles at 32oz a pop equal 128oz. There are 128oz. in a full gallon and a gallon of water weighs in at 8.34lbs.

This last week I couldn’t get enough H20 and might have been on the gallon plus, plus side. I’ve been 24/7 thirsty. No matter no how much I consume I’m still feeling parched and dry mouthed. I haven’t looked into this yet...is this a common ‘side effect’?

Week Seven

Our second doctor appointment this week. All is well! Yippeee. The lil’ thing is a truckin’ right along - so well that they have taken me out of ‘problem’ status. The doctor said things look normal and back on track so no need for next week’s visit and ultrasound. Jack came along this time and was able to see the baby, hear the heartbeat (and attempt to break in to the ultrasound machine when the doctor left). The ultrasound printer wasn’t working correctly and the doctor was having a hard time capturing a good image for us to take home. Jack thought we had one print stuck in the machine and he was going to push every button to get the thing out...sadly to no avail.

Symptoms:
Week seven symptoms Jack made fun of my growing boobs. My afternoon energy levels returned so no naps. Hooray! Feelin’ like a champ, no complaints at all this week.

Brooke’s introduction to sober happy hours, BBQs, and parties....
Ya know, this sober living isn’t so bad! :) I’ve been pleasantly surprised how easy it is to sit around a table of drunk monkeys and still have a ball.

Note to self: Stop drilling the girl who you know is trying to conceive why she’s doesn’t have a drink in hand, chances are she’s knocked up.

So until we go public, I’m that pregnant girl dumping half her Bud Light down the toilet and carrying around a half empty can with me for hours.

Six Weeks

Prior medical history and a few concerns brought me to the doctor a little earlier than normal for my first ultrasound this Wednesday.

It was at this appointment the doctor confirmed the lil’ bean was right where he (or she) was supposed to be. What an exciting thing to see and hear! Not only was I able to see the little heart beating on the monitor the doctor was able to play the sound of the heart back. Six weeks and two days and a April 12th, 2009 ETA.

The doctor has asked that I come in once a week for the next two weeks for more ultrasounds and monitoring. Prayin’ that all goes well!

Week six ‘so I’m pregnant huh?’ symptoms. It’s hard to keep my eyes open on the way home from work. At work and during the day I’m fine, but the thirty five minute drive home is killing me. So an afternoon nap has been a must. I think my boobs grew a full size this week.
I wonder if they're going to give me away in the coming weeks/month....

The Weekend it All Went Down.

I had that odd feeling that something was funny Friday afternoon on the way home from work, but chalked it up to a long hard day and the seven hours spent at the grill during the third summer BBQ. After spending hours on my feet, in the hot sun, runnin’ and grillin’ all day long a beer didn’t sound appealing, at all. For those near and dear they would say that was crazy talk, Brooke loves her BudLight.

Thinking I would pull through and rally after a shower, (Jack and I had plans to meet a few friends that evening to watch the Wiener Dog races.) I reluctantly grabbed a six pack on the way home. Rally I did not. At 3:45pm Jack found me on the couch, in my pajamas.

The following day was supposed to be a productive Saturday. Early afternoon chores and then an afternoon/evening concert at Marymoor Park to see David Gray. Instead of crossing off completed tasks, I took a two plus hour nap. It was Sunday morning, August 16th when I told Jack “just for the fun it” I should take a pregnancy test and see what’s up. Sure enough after two faint lines that could go either way, and a run to the store for a digital test (that can’t be mistaken) we confirmed the good news.

Our Wonderful Begining

Sunday, December 2nd 2007

What a day, I felt like the luckiest kid in the world! We feel so blessed that we were able to share our day with friends and loved ones. It truly was one of the happiest days of both our lives and we loved each and every minute of it!

Our planning process was a whirl wind. Who says you can’t plan the perfect day in three months, and have a blast doin’ it?! I realized during our planning how truly lucky I am to have Jack to stand beside. Our happy day was truly a testimony of team work, love, compromise and countless episodes sittin’ side by side watching WE tv wedding shows.

Small and intimate was our goal...no maid of honor, no best man, no big wedding party, just Jack’s adorable nieces as the flower girls. Our original guest count was not to exceed 50, a comfortable 100 graced us with their presence. It was intimate, warm, exciting…it was the best day we’ve shared together.

Come Take a Peek!
