SEPTEMBER 30, 2009
Twelve and Thirteen Weeks

Twelve and thirteen were pretty uneventful. No exciting news to report or share.
Only a few reminders that have kept me on my toes (or off my feet a time or two).

Periodic (mild) headaches, general achiness (typically in the evening), hard time focusing (mainly at work), and a few ten-hour-plus crashes.
All and all, no complaints at all!

From The Bump

Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

From The Bump

As you move into the second
trimester
, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in
the critical development stage, almost all of baby's systems are fully formed.

11weeks 4days
So I'm thinkin'......that a million baby books and web sites couldn't have prepared us for today’s visit. Holy smokes, I had no idea those lil’ things grow as fast as they do! Seriously, is that how every appointment goes?! I'm not sure what I was expecting...I was just hoping and praying for a good solid heart beat. I had no idea we would see little fingers and toes!

Jack almost skipped around the room when he saw the little thing scooting around, flaying its arms all over the place. The poor doctor had a heck of a time keeping me still. Jack was so excited and asking so many questions I couldn’t help laughing. We got a couple really great full body pictures, (definitely baby book worthy) so that’s exciting. Jack wanted to keep the pictures with him today (super cute), so I’m curious and anxious to get home and see them again. :)

From The Bump

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

Ten Weeks

This week has been flash back to Junior High. I don’t remember the last time I had two zits on my face at one time, now I have six. Ugh! I’m sure I’m the only one that notices them, but I’ve been self-consciously wondering if my new friends are going to give my secret away.

Sadly, I’ve felt more cruddy this week then any other. It was the last BBQ of the season at work on Friday, and I’m afraid the ten hour plus days leading up to the event and heavy physical labor didn’t do me any favors. I felt like it took me three or fours days to recover. I just felt cruddy, hangover-like cruddy for days. Dull lower abdominal achiness was the name of the game. Very rarely do I have bouts with menstrual craps so anything out of the norm down there and I feel like I’m dying. (Admittedly, I am NOT good at being sick.) The discomfort lasted about four days or five days, and then mellowed out and I ended the week strong and ache free. Yeah!

I’m greatly looking forward to next Tuesday’s appointment. After the first few weeks of uncertainty and concerns, I’m excited at the prospect of a little positive affirmation. Based on the last two appointments and the doctor’s measurements we are estimating I’ll be 11w 3d at appointment time. Now that he’ll have a better read I’m so curious to see how far along we really are.

From The Bump

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to
function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the
next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Our Wonderful Begining

Sunday, December 2nd 2007

What a day, I felt like the luckiest kid in the world! We feel so blessed that we were able to share our day with friends and loved ones. It truly was one of the happiest days of both our lives and we loved each and every minute of it!

Our planning process was a whirl wind. Who says you can’t plan the perfect day in three months, and have a blast doin’ it?! I realized during our planning how truly lucky I am to have Jack to stand beside. Our happy day was truly a testimony of team work, love, compromise and countless episodes sittin’ side by side watching WE tv wedding shows.

Small and intimate was our goal...no maid of honor, no best man, no big wedding party, just Jack’s adorable nieces as the flower girls. Our original guest count was not to exceed 50, a comfortable 100 graced us with their presence. It was intimate, warm, exciting…it was the best day we’ve shared together.
