Our Big ‘D’ Day….

>> Friday, April 9, 2010

Has arrived, and we’ve got nuttin’. The count down clock says today is the day, but…. Our lil’ buckaroo is hanging out happy as can be where he is and hasn’t shown any signs that he’ll making his grand entrance in the next few remaining hours of April 9th, 2010.

To be completely honest, I’m with him, what’s the big rush? We’re going to have a lifetime together so what’s a few more kicked backed relaxing days before the fun really starts.

This week has been go, go, go. Today is the first day that I’ve been able to hang out at the house and not have a to-do a mile long ahead of me. I really thought this week was going to be laid back, quiet and the days would all move in slow motion (either out of anticipation or boredom). Turns out not so much, they’ve been filled with all sorts of fun, dinner with Laura and Mom, lunches with friends, shopping trips, more last minute shopping trips, what could be our last midwife appointment, craft projects and more.

Yesterday, at our midwife appointment we met Carol for the first time (and a UW Student, Sam). She was very nice and pleasant, but not my favorite pick for the big day. Just for fun we asked if they could check me to see where we were. Turns out I was/am only dilated to one centimeter, so no exciting news to report. I don’t think either one of us were too surprised by the news, especially after all the date confusion discovered when we made the transfer from the doctor to the midwives. They went ahead and scheduled an appointment (complete with an ultrasound) for next Friday, and the following Monday (if we make it that far) to check my fluid levels and perform a stress test. As long as the lil’ guy is healthily , I’m perfectly okay practicing a little patience and letting the anticipation build a little longer.
I’ve got my eye on the 12th, Jack thinks the 22nd…whoa Nelly!

Our Wonderful Begining

Sunday, December 2nd 2007

What a day, I felt like the luckiest kid in the world! We feel so blessed that we were able to share our day with friends and loved ones. It truly was one of the happiest days of both our lives and we loved each and every minute of it!

Our planning process was a whirl wind. Who says you can’t plan the perfect day in three months, and have a blast doin’ it?! I realized during our planning how truly lucky I am to have Jack to stand beside. Our happy day was truly a testimony of team work, love, compromise and countless episodes sittin’ side by side watching WE tv wedding shows.

Small and intimate was our goal...no maid of honor, no best man, no big wedding party, just Jack’s adorable nieces as the flower girls. Our original guest count was not to exceed 50, a comfortable 100 graced us with their presence. It was intimate, warm, exciting…it was the best day we’ve shared together.
